I know some Russians (and Kazakhs and Azerbaijanis, both some Russian ethnically and some real Kazakhs). We had two Russians in our department for awhile, though one got fired. The Trump people knew Russians who were intelligence operatives. That's a bad thing, and why they had to lie about it. She hid something from management, presenting a dishonest report. There was no question of her doing it for gain, just covering up a problem. I figured coming from a culture where people hid problems from authorities had something to do with it. Everyone felt bad about her having to leave but still we couldn't let that go.
