all......Cabletron rose 1 1/4 to 14 11/16 as investors once again speculated that
Lucent Technologies would acquire the company. But the top-secret
announcement that Cabletron waited all day to make was that it would pay
$88 million in stock for Yago Systems, a privately-held maker of gigabit
ethernet networking equipment. Cabletron will issue 6 million shares of its
common shares to Yago shareholders in exchange for the 75 percent of
Yago stock it doesn't already own.

<< company called JDS Fitel........a canadian company with a similiar story to mrvc... >>

I follow JDS Fitel. I can understand the comparison you are making but there are some distinct differences between the 2 companies.

First of all JDS stock is up nearly 300% in the last year and MRVC's is up only 5%. This can be attributed directly to JDS' strategy of seizing on the opportunities that WDM has to offer. MRVC has not done this.

Don't get me wrong, MRVC is a fine company with quality products and they consistently earn money. In essence they quietly go about their business.

But MRVC lacks the flash of a company like JDS Fitel. That's why their stock hasn't been the high flyer that JDS has been.
