Ranier - sorry to stir up such controversy and ruin your morning. That was bad communication on my part! I sometimes think out loud looking for info. and analysis. I was interested in your previous analysis and the discussion here about shorting Radica, which I chimed in on. That was because I own some shares as I stated then and yesterday. It is also because I am trying to learn as you stated that I should! Commentary and analysis on a company I have followed is the best place, because I have more basis for understanding.

As for making purchasing decisions based on other peoples decisions, I hope I don't, but I do find SI a tremendous resource for learning. That comes from listening, analyzing and trying to separate out what's real etc. It also comes from discussing the discussion, so to speak. I am not a trader, have no sophisticated analysis tools, and no real stake in short term price movemements. I am interested in the companies and their stories proposed around SI.

I mentioned Doug's TA because I thought I have seen you post on the 56 threads, and would find it a credible analysis. Radica is actually the only 56 recomendation that I own, but there is a lot of good analysis flying there.

As I mentioned when I first chimed in, I almost never drop in to comment, and probably won't again. I was just fascinated by the Radica saga and all the thinking pertaining to it. Again, my apologies for blundering.
Hope the rest of the day runs better,
Mike

Hi Rainier,

A stock can fall with a short sale even with the uptick rule because
the market maker can move the bid & ask. For instance you can short
WXYZ @ 50. The last trade was an uptick from 49.750 but the MM won't buy it from you at 49.750 he will give you the bid which he may set at 49.00. Enough trades like that & a long can get hurt (G).
The bullish aspect of short trades is that sooner or later the short has to cover & buy the stock. FWIW
