Someone explain this to me.

I just upgraded on of my PC's starting with the motherboard. In the middle of the installation the old Maxtor hard drive decided to fail. Murphy's law. So I get all kinds of errors going on that take me a day to figure that the problem with the new start up isn't the new board, or software, or incompatible cards, or peripheals, it's the stupid hard drive.
So I go out and buy a WD, slap it in, and problems all solved. Take the Maxtor and throw it off a bridge.

Question is, why will people go out and buy a $1000 computer and not even care what hard drive is installed? I can understand people not caring about other components in the PC, but when the hard drive fails, you lose stuff. Sometimes stuff you spent a good deal of time on.

People understand this. Yet they will buy a PC with a "it works good now" attitude.

I'm confused.

Roger
