I read David Stockman's book about Reagan and it's pretty damning. He was Reagan's budget director. The one thing that sticks in my mind is him going to Bob Dole's office to make budget deals to cut spending and ending up giving away so much money that Reagan's deficit reduction plans always cost more than they cut. Republicans have always been the party of big spenders. Their voters don't dare admit it.

Trump is expected to give us $1 trillion deficits. Where are the deficit hawks now? Oddly quiet and ball-less - their normal state when breeding.
