He knows Bush stayed in the war after there weren't any WMDs. This may be a new concept to him (I can't imagine how) but his party didn't tell him what to say so he remains very quiet. He repeats the party line about Hillary supporting the war because the party told him what to say.

Confront a republican with something his party hasn't made an excuse for and he's lost. The poor chap is lost. I know this.
