I see your point. But the authoritarian types, which is what the Trumpists are, are pretty much in the Republican party. Not all, there certainly are Democrats with authoritarian leanings, but most of them.

I will grant you that not all Republicans are authoritarians. And not all Republican authoritarians are Trumpists. So it can get a little complicated.

A complication is that for congressional Republicans, the number of Republicans who are willing to distance themselves from Trump, however minimally, is a small and increasingly endangered population. Because Trumpists for the most part do not have much of an investment in the Republican party and are willing to punish anyone who bucks Trump even if it means losing that seat to a Democrat..
