But that is somewhat disingenuous given that the groups most making the news try to enter the US illegally prior to seeking asylum because at the port of entry they can be subject to summary exclusion ie. summary removal procedure which then prevents them from entering or seeking asylum I believe for 5 years.

A big part of the program is that asylum seekers are supposed to go through 'US Ports of Entry'
but Trump is blocking everyone from entering the ports of entry on the US/Mexico borders, so people
fleeing for fear of their lives are trying to cross at other locations, where they and their kids are
arrested then separated. Interesting how the Homeland Security Secretary glosses over the ports of
entry thing.
I gotta hand it to Trump... since nobody is swallowing his 'build a wall' platform plank, he's going for the
Gestapo option. I'm sure some Trumpsters are accepting this as 'better than nothing'.
