Dear Fred,
thanx alot for providing us Your info from Dolby labs. This makes alot of sense IMHO. In classic terms, Philips & Sony more sided with the users while Toshiba etc. more sided with holliwood on techspecs (Warner was in their camp !). Anyway, this time MSFT is dictating what goes on. That's good news for the enduser because MSFT doesn't want artificial roadblocks which hinder their global business model (regional codes and other ill-conceived technical "excellence"). So this is the first time, MSFT will fight it out with the holliwood crowd. Good ! I like this. Much better than DIVX "big-brother" approach..

best wishes
