a lot of new cars have this feature and turn off automatically, luckily there is a button to disable that feature and i do it before i even fasten my seatbelt. too many safety reasons not to be without ignition at a light to compensate for the $1.50 in gas a month this saves

I recall getting in a cab around midnight at the train station in Lviv, Ukraine and the driver did not turn on the engine for the first few miles, we literally glided downhill to our destination. Only once at a level intersection did he need to open the door and give it three little pushes. We stopped at a little alcohol kiosk and woke up the proprietor, all he had was Brazilian beer and Ukrainian vodka. We took beer and bought our driver a mickey of vodka he started drinking immediately for the drive back uphill.
