TopCat, Crossing the border without proper permission is crossing the border with criminal intent. I don't agree, even though the letter of the law might allow for such an interpretation. These illegal immigrants don't deserve to be treated like criminals. They're not stealing anything. They're not trying to hurt anyone. All they're guilty of is maybe trespassing, but that's only if you believe in Fortress America, where the entire homeland should be treated like an exclusive zoning club. Sure, we need to control our immigration, just like most other first-world nations out there. But the "zero-tolerance" policy adopted by Trump and Beauregard Sessions is a step too far, IMO.
