greg - Re: " If Intel did the same you would be dead."

Operative word: IF.

But Intel doesn't need to execute the management.

During a quarter where Intel dramatically reduced their CPU prices, aggressively pursued the sub $1000 PC market, and the S.E. Asia financial crisis wrecked havoc with their foreign sales, Intel's management performed the following:

Grew Revenued by $300,000,000 quarter to quarter

Increased EARNINGS by $200,000,000 to $1.7 BILLION (Quarter to Quarter)

Increased MARKET SHARE

Increased yields and volumes to reduce costs

Ramped Pentium II production to 25% of CPU shipments

Began 0.25 micron Production in TWO ADDITIONAL FABS (Total now = 3)

Began 0.25 micron Pentium II (Deschutes) production.

Increased CASH position to $11 Billion.

Released major support for MERCED from customers AND competitors.

All in all - a spectacular performance.
