That might just be local. That is not consistent with my look this morning at the national trends.

The homeless are NOT immigrants - some might think of them as poor white trash. Clearly there is a drug problem here too.

You have two very different populations there. You have rational actors who have demonstrated the energy and determination to move to a new country to improve their lives. And you have people who, through lack of wherewithal or bad choices or some calamity are not highly functioning. Now, which would you think is more likely to experience homelessness?

As the wages for bottom level jobs falls and the jobs become more competitive - more of the people who use to do them are just dropping out.

You can gather yourself and do what it takes to compete with a guy who's brown, half your height, and doesn't speak English or you can drop out.
