Likely a very complicated set of reasons; like you say high cost of housing and like wharf says mental illness - but I just don't think you can rule out the part immigrants flooding in can make on a community. I suspect the influx is way different between one community and the next but here where I am at - because it is a small community - the impact I think is very significant. It doesn't effect me - unless I want my yard done on the cheap - but I have empathy for those who have lost a job that use to require no schooling and no great level of smarts - to someone who is willing to work for less than these jobs paid in the past. ...........
