We can look up the exact day when the US went from being the largest creditor nation on earth (other countries owing us) to being a debtor nation. That was under Reagan. The gop became the party of mindless and endless debt. The debt nearly tripled under Reagan and doubled under Bush. Both left office with deficits soaring out of control after both promised to balance the budget. The era of being a moron was now engrained in the minds of every republican voter. The US hasn't done one great thing (other than voting for President Obama) since tax cutters gained power and bankrupted us. They can't blame themselves for what they did so they blame immigrants, liberals and Muslims.
