What I would like someone to explain to me is how come you can buy a whole laptop computer with a flat panel display for $1200 whereas the new flat displays for desktops cost $1,900? Yes, I realize they are bigger, with sharper displays--but how come no one offers a cheaper, smaller, flat display--or do they? I guess the display is a major part of the entire cost of a laptop.

OK. That means a declining yen lowers US prices, but not like the major declines in other currencies, implying less change than I had hoped. Increasing yields are driving costs to the consumer sweet spot in the next few years. SEA exchange rates could cut this schedule significantly, the yen won't.

Maybe "laptop" is a misnomer for what I see: portable, lightweight
cheap devices that are plugged into docks at work, home, and hotels.
