Constant obfuscation.

At least some Dems are starting to realize they're being played on the issue by a Uni-Party that wants cheap labor to pick and choose from. The Uni-Party will jerk them off by tugging at the old heartstrings.

Well, until "compassion fatigue" sets in with observant voters.

Usually they will not utter the words and switch into "why are you against immigrants?"

There are two extremes in this arena. There are people on one end who truly believe in open borders as a human right. Everybody gets to live wherever. On the other end there are people who are horrified at the prospect of rubbing shoulders with the "other."

The folks on the left that you refer to have a knee-jerk reaction like they are talking to a xenophobe or other related and equally unattractive -phobe, which does exist but is not necessarily the party in the room. The folks on the right do the same thing in reverse, assume that they are talking to someone who would negate borders, which does exist but is not necessarily the party in the room.

It's a form of the black-and-white thinking and strawman fallacies. Happens on both sides, not just one.
