Nail Manufacturing Exec Voted For Trump And Now Has To Lay Off His Employees, Wants Democrats Help

BY NICOLE JAMES
JUNE 23, 2018

According to The New York Times, an executive for the largest nail producer in the U.S. who voted for Donald Trump said he is so upset by Trump’s trade policies that he is lobbying a Democratic senator for help.

George Skarich, vice president of sales for Missouri-based Mid Continent Nail Corporation, said that his nail company could soon go out of business.

“He ran on ‘Make America Great Again,’ and the point was to defend and protect jobs in the United States,” Skarich said.

“Now here is an action he decides to take that has the potential to cost 500 U.S. citizens their jobs,” he added, referring to the 25 percent tariffs on steel imports that Trump announced in March.

The tariffs, Skarich said, prompted his company to have to raise its prices by almost 20 percent. Skarich said that his company’s orders have dropped by half this month, facing stiff competition from cheaper foreign manufacturers.

The company has reportedly cut 60 jobs and might cut up to 200 more in coming weeks. Skarich said he blames Trump for the layoffs.

From the Times:

Mid Continent, the largest American producer of nails, imports steel from Mexico to make its nails. That steel is now subject to the 25 percent tariffs that Mr. Trump imposed on dozens of countries, forcing Mid Continent to raise its prices by nearly 20 percent.

Orders have plummeted by 50 percent this month as the company tries to compete with cheaper foreign-made nails. Those foreign manufacturers are not facing higher steel costs, giving them an advantage over Mid Continent.

Because of the tariffs, Skarich said he is lobbying Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill for help.

In March, Trump implemented tariffs of 25 percent on imported steel and 10 percent on imported aluminum. On Friday, he threatened, in a tweet, to unilaterally impose a 20 percent tariff on European cars.

SUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Donald Trump’s decision to abduct immigrant kids from their parents and lock them in cages has motivated the American public to try a number of newly aggressive tactics when it comes to getting their message across. This week we’ve seen Trump cursed at to his face, Sarah Huckabee Sanders thrown out of a restaurant, Kirstjen Nielsen confronted by protesters at a restaurant and at her home. It turns out Stephen Miller has also faced the music.

For some reason, even as Trump’s henchmen are carrying out an evil and abusive plot against Hispanic people, they’ve decided to spend the week dining at Mexican restaurants. Maybe they’re just that tone-deaf. Maybe they’re doing it on purpose because they want to prove just how cartoonishly disgusting they are. In any case, after Nielsen was chased out of a Mexican restaurant, a story surfaced that Stephen Miller had also had a rough go of it at a Mexican restaurant this week.

One patron at the restaurant called Miller a “fascist” after which Miller “scurried” away but didn’t actually leave the restaurant, according to a New York Post report. Here’s what stands out. This incident happened two days before the Nielsen incident, yet no one thought to go to the press with it until after reading the Nielsen story. It makes us wonder how many other such incidents are playing out, each time Trump’s goons step out in public, that aren’t finding their way to the headlines.

In any case, this is just about the most riled up and outraged the public has been in modern American history. It’s increasingly clear that the people aren’t going to sit on their hands while an illegitimate president like Donald Trump carries out his Hitler-like ambitions. Trump is on his very last legs, and the public is clearly looking to pressure him and his goons into resigning.

Stating a fact triggers you Trump snowflakes just like it does the Big Orange Snowflake. If your attitude is 'so what, we know he's a sleazeball', why get offended when someone mentions he's a sleazeball?
