I would add an interesting statistic. Last week consumer credit (November, I believe) declined for the first time since May 1993.

As you know, the economy runs on consumer credit. High levels don't end an expansion. When it stops expanding it signals a slowing of the economy.

Just what a slowing world economy doesn't need.
