AMD will be adding additional capital equipment in Q1 & Q2 and they expect depreciation to increase.

S, re:<Look at the real book value (equipment has depreciated in value since 1994)>

Equipment purchased in 1994 would be valued on AMD's books as worthless or almost worthless.

AMD is valuing the total of all of its plants and equipment at 2 billion dollars, which is also just about exactly what the shareholder's equity is. I am sure the replacement cost is much higher than that.

Stockman, There is no Dresden debt. AMD has a sweetheart deal from the german goverment and Saxony. AMD bought the land for cash. Dresden bank lends the money to build the fab to a development agency. The loan is guaranted by the German gov and the state of Saxony. The agency builds the plant for AMD in exchange for bring the technology and hiering German workers. Seimens and Motolola are doing the same thing. Don't you read anythng you talk about?
