I responded to your comments about Trump. Why is it okay for you talk about him but it's not okay for me? You have a lower standard for yourself than you have for me. That's intellectual dishonesty of the highest order.
What's the historical for the DOW? I'd say 12% is substantial since election 2016
Is this a real question or mere rhetoric based on a baseless opinion? 12% over 1.5 years is 8%. The Dow rose 26.5% in 2013 before republicans gained enough power to cripple the economy with sequestration etc.

President Clinton gave us 33.45% growth in 1995 just before he balanced the budget. You'll never see a republican do this....after all, they're pseudo fiscal conservatives (conservative in name only).

I track the numbers back to 1986. The Dow goes up 711.72 pts. per year on average over 32 years. As you know this includes numerous recessions so comparing a non-recessionary period to a period with recessions is intellectually dishonest so that's why I picked two other periods without recessions. The problem is still the gop. They need massive debt to create the illusion of growth.
So what's your downside numbers for the DOW or SPX.
I look at peaks, not troughs. Don't expect everyone to think like you. To that end, my portfolio MUST exceed the highest global index I track which is the NASDAQ 100 as of now. Going below that number is never acceptable.
