I know, we have a large Filipino community in Juneau. I had a ton of Filipino friends. There credit was always good , they always had money and they were often the financial folks in administration and often their kids went to college.

I know poverty is a huge inhibitor in the Philippines, but somehow a society needs to learn the importance of education for a healthy society. The South Koreans figured it out, so did the Japanese and many Chinese. even though they were poor?

A big difference between those cultures and the Philippines is they have eastern philosophy/ spirituality which values : " Knowledge as the path to wisdom"; while western religions say: just believe in god".

But the Filipino's that make it to the US do very well very quickly, so they do have the knowledge of the importance of education somewhere and they are usually very nice.
