If LU made the announcement, CS and ASND would skyrocket in price, because traders would speculate that LU was buying someone.

If CS makes the announcement, ASND is obviously not in play, and (as some of us have noted) the pre-announcement hype is ambiguous. So CS would have some activity, but ASND wouldn't.

So maybe CS is making the announcement to lessen the overall frenzy.

A stretch, I know, but it's one explanation.
