When he provokes a trade war with a country that we have a small trade surplus with (when you count both goods and services) it's NOT about trade. In milk, timber, scuffed shoe smuggling or anything. When domestic industries supposedly being protected don't want trade war, it's not about protecting America's industries. It's about WWPWTTD. What would Putin want Trump to do? Trade wars with all our trading partners, severing defense ties with our allies, pulling out of NATO & the WTO, turning the G7 meeting (supposed to be about intl finance) into an advocacy for Russian membership, even for Russia's right to annex Crimea and part of Ukraine. US Steel and GM don't want a trade war on their behalf. No one really does. But it serves Putin's interest to see the West FU'd.
