Pat: Box makers like Nextlevel and Nortel are pushing the QAM line code, ADI, MOT, TI, ALA are pushing for DMT and Globespan is pushing CAP. There are a number of newly created terms:

G.dmt - initial ITU-T ADSL recommendation
G.hs -common xDSL handshake
G.lite - simpler to install ADSL version
G.test - common testing procedures for xDSL devices
G.oam - common operations, administration and maintenance recommendation


At this time I don't think G.Lite implies DMT only. Simpler to install ADSL ala. splitterless CAP, QAM or DMT... until later.
