"Clean Coal refers to what is called Metalurgial Coal "
Trump Touts 'Clean Coal': What Is It, Really?

generally speaking, "clean coal" refers to a suite of technologies geared toward preventing climate change. These technologies are expensive, so they're typically funded through public-private partnerships with, and loans from, the U.S. Department of Energy.

"Natural Gas is called "A clean energy source" But it is far from being 100% Clean."
Why? Cuz it's a GHG itself.

Are Fugitive Methane Emissions Offsetting the CO2 Benefit of Natural Gas?

This week’s Energy Gang podcast is all about gas.

Stephen Lacey

June 28, 2018

This week's podcast digs into a new study on methane emissions from oil and gas operations.

A new peer-reviewed study in the journal Science gives us a clearer picture of the climate impact of natural gas. According to researchers, methane leakage across oil and gas operations in the U.S. are 60 percent higher than government estimates. Put another way, the methane leakage from oil and gas has the same warming effect over a 20-year time period as all America’s coal capacity in 2015.

Natural gas has been vital to lowering power-sector carbon emissions. Are methane leaks reversing that progress? On this week's Energy Gang, we'll provide some context.

Then, we'll talk about how GE and Siemens are grappling with dramatic changes in demand for gas turbines. Both companies are de-emphasizing their gas businesses, while accelerating investments in renewables and efficiency. How will these power giants evolve?

Clean Coal refers to what is called Metalurgial Coal which produces lower amounts of CO2 and ash than other types of coal..

Sigh.

Nope. Now the part about the ash means it has a lower mineral content per unit volume. What replaces that mineral content? Well, for anthracite coal, it only has the minerals and...

Carbon. Which, when oxidized, burned in this case, makes CO and CO2.

So low mineral coal actually produces more CO2 per unit volume or weight than high mineral coal.

And who calls it "clean coal" anyway?
