Many people in the US live in fear of "drug cartels" and "criminal gangs" washingtonpost.com Generally, the US has determined that escaping wide spread violence of a country is NOT grounds for asylum. Let's face it... If you live in that much fear.. You must be happy to arrive in the first country where that fear is not as prevalent. Like Mexico, Costa Rica, or Panama.. But, to simply bypass that opportunity and continue on thousands of miles to reach another country minimizes the claim of fleeing violence... PCSTEL
