I let my latest batch (new starter using 3 tablets)

I started my first batch with 10 tablets. That is what Dr Davis called for. You have L Reuteri. Put it though a mixer to smooth it out, save a half a cup for the next start, and let this batch get thicker in the fridge. The next batch will have a better start because you have more bacteria in it.

I prefer it thinner because it's drinkable.

I would probably return the DASH for one that cooks at a lower temperature. Mine is at 110. Have you checked your thermometer?
