I blame the liberal media for making useful idiots out of its readers when it comes to immigration. They make very little effort to distinguish legal immigration from illegal immigration. They print a stream of canards about how "immigrants" built this country, how all of us are children of "immigrants", and, of course, the lack of compassion and/or the racism of those who want to keep illegal immigrants out. Trust in the media keeps falling as more and more people believe the media either print outright lies or allow false narratives to take root and flourish. It's the latter that is the most perncious. Correcting a blatant lie is relatively easy and most will approve of getting lies disproved. But seeding and feeding false narratives is corrosive and nearly impossible to uproot. Nowhere do I see this more clearly than with the issue of illegal immigration.
