"I believe the life boat is too small. Build the wall and improve the lives of all US citizens."

Rat believes the lifeboat is too small, and that we should improve the lives of all of persons here by spending the wall money to improve the lives of the bottom 25%. For instance, we can improve the lives of most people who are upset about homelessness by building internment camps like this for the homeless. The only people who will suffer are those who like to be outraged by the number of homeless people in blue states.

Except that it won't. At this point in time, probably most illegal immigrants arrive by plane and overstay their visa. Even if it hasn't reached that point, a significant fraction come in that way. No wall will stop them. Plus, it is unlikely any wall, especially the ones that are actually fences, will stop everyone. A significant fraction of the ones who come in from Mexico come through existing checkpoints.

So a wall won't stop illegal immigration. The hundreds of billions it would cost to build is better spent on other things.

And the idea that it would improve the lives of all Americans is, at best, questionable.
