Remember that Merck is a Dow stock. Some of its movements
are tied to market/Dow moves.
Merck is a company that should excite any long-term investor.
It is always spends tons of money on R&D and is very well
managed. I recently read that they payed off all debt from
the Medco purchase of a few years ago.

Nick and Rick,
Have you seen any IMS data on prescriptions for Propecia? I believe the weekly data was released today and good Propecia launch may account for the great gains the last two days to all time new high.

Nick,

I think Propecia has great potential. The side effects really do not concern me that much because the sexual side effect rates are low and many men will do anything to get their hair back. Even spend thousands of dollars on rugs!!!! My only concern is that I think many HMO will not cover this drug on their formularies since it is used for cosmetic use. I do suspect many healthy bald men will develop BPH though.
