None of that is correct by either of you.. Social science knows that the poor usually don't know how to succeed. But if they are taught how through education most will choose that path and work hard to obtain it.

Ambition is not just a matter of will power, it is best fueled by success and self confidence. When a society shows a person how to succeed, they usually will.

That is why public pre schools and community colleges are so important. They mitigate poverty and crime and increase production better than any other social tool or incentive.

"I say harm and foul."
Gee, there's a shocker.

"How is an uneducated American citizen affected by the mass import of uneducated people?"
He can either kick back and live on the tax dollars paid by those imported folks, or work harder than they do. I prolly did the latter, back when I had a summer job in a cannery. At least they kept hiring me.

"My understanding of supply and demand of labor has me believing the uneducated American citizen will receive a lower wage"

My understanding of the uneducated American citizen is that he has become too fucking lazy to outwork immigrants, and is too complacent living on the blue state taxpayer-funded opioids to get off his butt and relocate to where the jobs are.

"Why work when you can vote for someone?

I meant, "Grandpa dug ditches so that Dad could go to trade school to become a mechanic, so that he could send me to college to become 'not a ditch digger'".
