Um, you do know we have had illegal immigration ever since we have had legal immigration? Heck, we even had illegal immigration since the days of the bracero program. A fair number didn't even realize they were illegal. It isn't like there is a line drawn in the sand. One side of the river is very much like the other, etc... The problem with your arbitrary start point is that you are ignoring the fact that the type of immigration you want to control is no longer the dominant way it happens. And it is shrinking, even without a wall. So why the fuss over a dying method? Is it because they are predominantly brown?
