Good point. I do sort of assume the "being" part. But that isn't a given.

It is something we will have to address at some point. If we ever develop true AI, do they have rights? What if we can use the DNA of a Neanderthal or Denisovan to reconstruct one or more? What about if we can augment the intellect of a dog, dolphin or bonobo to human levels? What if we can simulate the brain well enough to download a consciousness?
