ex smokers often develop a hyper sensitivity, akin to an allergic reaction at times, to tobacco smoke. To this day, when around second hand smoke, I have to leave as I immediately get short of breath, a rapid heart beat and a feeling of dreaded anxiety. Don't be too harsh on them.

The other thing that I have heard is there is nothing worse than a reformed smoker.

I hated reformed smokers. Still do. I never preached to anyone about quitting smoking. It's hard enough without the pompous arrogance of the reformed.

What's required is the patience and support of people as shown here.
