AMSC could not have made a token settlement, a fraction of the total damage, not including punitive damages, without a very good reason. Merely settling for that amount would be tantamount to a failure to act in the best interest of shareholders, a breach of fiduciary responsibilities on the part of the CEO and the board of directors.

That is why I believe there is something more out there.

Two issues are at stake. First, will a U.S. court award substantial damages? And second, will the U.S. government stand idly by if there is no reasonable resolution that results in AMSC recovering substantially all its losses? As someone I see occasionally on TV says, "We'll have to wait and see."
