I am not in denial of the history of the Democratic party. I am certainly aware of the links to the Klan. I grew up in the town next to Vidor, TX. It was solidly Democratic when I was a kid. The Klan met every Tuesday at a Baptist Church on 5th Street, IIRC. They held annual rallies.

Google "Bloody Vidor".

Stormfront claims it as its own. It is something like 97% white. It has probably a half a dozen black families.

I also know that Nixon's Southern Strategy was really successful in getting those types to jump to the Republican party. I was in East Texas in those days and I watched it happen.

Guess who Vidor went for strongly in the 2016 election?

Now there is someone in this conversation who is in denial...

That all changed with the equal rights legislation of the 1960's, but you know that. Fact is, if you're a racist and you vote for racism today, you're a Republican.
