> Is this ASND upward trend for real? Suggestions?

Unless ASND comes up with real impressive numbers and an extra ordinary bullish outlook for the next couple of quarters when their earnings are announced on 1/20, I dont think the upward movement is for real. Big boys will be pushing the price UP till the earnings come out after which they will take their profits and run. For now I think the stock is in upward move (price of $28.5-$34.5). However I have been wrong in the past many times!

Given the chances of a buyout, I would not sell long term covered call for ASND. However your price (45) is probably high enough that a buyout would likely not result in too much of an opportunity loss for you. I don't see ASND in its current stat being taken over for more than 50 (and even that is optimistic). The volatility in the stock is enough that you can wait for sometime before buying the calls back.

Did you cover your SUNW position or are you still hoping for bad earnings.

Alok

Wise,

I don't know what percentage of your ascend position you have linked to covered calls, but if it is less than 50 %, If it was me, I would let it ride. You've had the use of that premium, and there is still a long way to go to 45. If nearer 100 % is involved, it may be a different question. In ASND time, Jan99 is a long time. Tough "call". I hope I helped. Maybe buy back half. Just expressing my approach.

Cover those puppies early next week. The biz is picking up and management is regaining confidence of the Street, a dangerous combo for any short position. If there is a buyout, you will get murdered.
