Socrates once said the problem with democracy is it's a popularity contest which doesn't pick the best leaders. Trump is able to control the media and the masses with endless lies that become headline news. During the campaign 538 did a study on how much money was spent by the media promoting Trump. It was over $3 billion. That was early on....so the final number might have been $4 or 5 billion.

The Street says Trump received $5 billion. In mid-2016, the NY Times said Trump got $2 billion in free ads from the media. So you see, it's not the people who decided the election. It's the media who covered only one person. When only one person is covered that person tends to win.
