TopCat, I reread your post, but I don't get what your point is, especially that part about "overequalization."

How is that even a word?

Hey TopCat, I've started to get a few people on Facebook to "unfriend" me.

The latest was this girl who posted an article in defense of using puberty blockers and hormone replacement therapy to "treat" children with gender dysphoria. One of the quotes, which I find quite hilarious, is that you could be a woman born with a Y chromosome. (And I'm pretty sure that quote wasn't referring to the small percentage of kids who are biologically intersex.)

I tried to have a civil discussion with her and explain that I don't believe such treatments ought to be done before puberty. If someone wants to be a different gender, let that person decide later in life. Pre-pubescent kids do not have the emotional and intellectual maturity to make such decisions, and anyone who believes otherwise is guilty of imposing their own beliefs upon these kids, in my not-so-humble opinion.

Long story short, I find myself unfriended and blocked by her. I didn't make any personal attacks, nor was I personally attacked, so I thought the conversation was pretty benign. Unfortunately, I'm now in the same category as a "bigoted, hateful person" in her mind.

This is the state of civil discourse these days. And it's clear to me that (a) the intolerant ones are the ones who preach "tolerance," and (b) the real power in modern society isn't held by ideological conservatives, but rather by ideological liberals. And that's pretty chilling.

I can chalk this one up as yet another reason why Trump won.
