President Trump on Monday nominated federal judge Brett M. Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, elevating a conservative stalwart with deep ties to the Republican establishment to succeed retiring Justice Anthony M. Kennedy and triggering a partisan war over the court’s future.

Kavanaugh, 53, who lives in the Maryland suburbs, serves on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and worked in George W. Bush’s White House before moving to the federal bench. He served as a clerk to Kennedy in the early 1990s alongside Justice Neil M. Gorsuch, whom Trump nominated for the Supreme Court last year.

“In keeping with President Reagan’s legacy, I do not ask about a nominee’s personal opinions,” Trump said in an announcement at the White House. “What matters is not a judge’s political views but whether they can set aside those views to do what the law and the Constitution require. I am pleased to say that I have found, without doubt, such a person. Tonight, it is my honor and privilege to announce that I will nominate Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court.”

Kavanaugh, who was joined by his wife, two daughters and parents, told Trump that he has “witnessed firsthand your appreciation for the vital role of the American judiciary.”

“No president has ever consulted more widely or talked with more people from more backgrounds to seek input about a Supreme Court nomination,” Kavanaugh said. “Mr. President, I am grateful to you, and I am humbled by your confidence in me.”

Make sure you read the second paragraph outlined in Red. Judge Gee basically paraphrases trump's tweet in which he said this has been going on for 20 years due to lack of action by Congress and the 3 previous Presidents.

Judge rejects Trump request for long-term detention of immigrant children

(Reuters) - A U.S. federal judge on Monday rejected the Trump administration's request to allow long-term detention of illegal immigrant children, a setback for President Donald Trump's executive order to end the separation of immigrant families.

Los Angeles U.S. District Court Judge Dolly Gee dismissed as "dubious" and "unconvincing" the U.S. Justice Department's arguments to modify a 1997 settlement that says children can only be held in immigration detention for up to 20 days.

The government made the request in June to allow it to keep underage migrants in detention alongside parents, after a public outcry over its policy of separating children from parents who entered the United States illegally.

"It is apparent that the Defendants' Application is a cynical attempt to shift responsibility to the Judiciary for over 20 years of Congressional inaction and ill-considered Executive action that have led to the current stalemate," Gee, the daughter of Chinese immigrants, said in her ruling.

The government asked Gee to suspend the Flores settlement's requirement that immigrant children be held only in facilities that meet state child welfare licensing regulations, so as to allow whole families to be detained together.

Gee, who was appointed to the bench by President Barack Obama, said the government had known for years that there was "no state licensing readily available for facilities that house both adults and children."

Owner of infamous 'F--- TRUMP' truck arrested; wife's GoFundMe campaign to pay his bond flops

Mrs. Fonseca took to GoFundMe to dispute the charge and play the race card.

She said her husband was initially pulled over because the windows were tinted too dark.

“He was followed by 3 white police officers that were in our neighborhood due to an unrelated dispute,” she wrote on the page titled “Free Mike Fonseca,” which had a $1,000 goal.

As of Monday afternoon, it had been up 18 hours and raised $33.
