The stock action today would indicate we have a negative Dec qtr
coming at us on earnings due to their high advertising costs. The good news should be they have added a large number of new accounts which will take some time to bring increased revenues to the bottom line. However, a comparison with Etrade would indicate that AMTD is greatly undervalued selling at the same price as Etrade and the market will likely reflect this after the quarter report is out.
Down the road 12 months, AMTD should kick butt....Yankee Gil

I read the most recent filings from AMTD last night.
About the proposed shares increase, I agree it is
not too big of an issue NOW. The proposal is for
getting the approval from shareholders to increase
the number of shares in the future when the management
deems benificial (sp?) to share holders. The purpose
is to get the approval now not to seek it when they
need to do it when the need comes up. Once approved,
the management will go ahead with the shares increase
as they see fit without notification to the shareholders.
It is also stated that the increase of shares is
good for buying up other companies as well as for
fending off hostile takeover attempts.
