Dem support of NATO was higher than the gop during the Obama years and is now soaring. According to Gallup a clear majority of Dems support NATO since 1990 so I'm not sure what period you're talking about. Prior to the 90s the USSR existed so I doubt you can cite any numbers supporting your claim. I can cite polls that show a majority of republicans have not supported NATO (except for a couple years) dating back to 2009. Their party tells them what to think.
