RE: ANCR Valuation

Another GE startup got bought out today:

"Cabletron Systems Inc. today announced its will acquire Yago Systems Inc., a switch-routing startup, in a $213 million stock-swap deal."

I don't think Yago has ever gotten a product commercialized but they seem to have a technology to speed things up on the enterprise backbone.

Ancor is already speeding things up on the network for end-users with the potential to smoothly integrate with what the storage world will look like for the next decade or so. And Ancor has a market value of around 50 million?

Give me a break.

Fang,

One of the links from the search(which I modified 'Exact Phrase' for 'fibre channel') gave me a couple of interesting links. The first is from an outfit in England that appears to have just recently bought the idea of a bright fibre channel future. Here's a link to just one part of their site:

hps.co.uk

but be sure to go to the home page as well. They are promising some fibre channel announcement soon. They talk themselves up to be big outfit.

There is also a very nicely put together fibre channel presentation by Compaq computer. Not much mention of switches but a great overview for the techno-impaired like me. Go to:

ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/supportinformation/papers/ECG0091097.pdf

They also have this page(which leads to the above link) that was updated less than two weeks ago:

compaq.com

Pretty positive stuff all in all. Can't wait to see how this whole thing unfolds.
