That's exactly what happened. :)

And at first, I remember going into restaurants and asking for the non-smoking section and having to wait because they only had one or two tables. It doesn't get any sillier than that. LOL. And they would have those tables in the back of the room with "smoking" tables right next to them - no partition of any kind.

The idea of a smoking section in a restaurant

I still remember the smoking section in airplanes with the little ash trays in the arm rest. The re-circulated air was so fresh.......

I also remember the fight in Illinois when casinos went "smoke free". They cried that everybody would go to Indiana to gamble. Never happened. They made outdoor heated/covered smoking areas and everybody stayed in Illinois to lose their money.

Many restaurants and bars have made outside areas for smokers, and I will admit that those seem to be the most popular spots even with non-smokers. Go figure!
