Holly, I have to respecify disagree with your statement that you don't see a future for a small or independent ISP.

Here is an idea that may, and I said MAY work.

Network Marketing type approach to getting people on COMPUTERS and the NET. Take a high quality notebook to a persons home and give them the tour of the web. Show them what the web could do for them. It is more convenient for people to demo in the house than drive to an office for a demo. Demos on TV are not the same as well.
You must know how Multi-level Marketing works, I think of an approach like Amway did in the USA with long distance and MCI. Amway distributors really pushed the MCI long distance package, I can't remember the exact numbers, but MCI grabbed a good chunk of the market from this approach. As for a MLM approach it would have to be legal of course!!

But I believe there is a market for small ISP's to grab, but once again it would have to be VERY UNIQUE and very aggressive. Like I have said before I have no interest in doing the above(Starting an ISP), I have other business ideas for the WEB, but I like debating it as well. I have only been on the NET for about 3-4 years, before that it was Compuserve, before that......BBS....so that makes it about 8-9 years using on-line services. Little over 10 years on puters.
