A. The current version of the iOS software uses Apple’s Safari browserand does not allow you to select different browser apps to automatically open links.

This has always been the case. The iPhone has never allowed the option to change defaults for maps, email, calendar, browser, sms/text messenging, camera, voice assistant, or photos. Some will say this is to Apple's detriment, but I think the people who care have spoken as loud as they can with their preference for Android or Microsoft flagship phones over the years. Apple's tight control over a relatively homogeneous user experience will never satisfy all users. Hence the iPhone's paltry market share.

You might not be able to change the default Browser but you can use both Firefox and Chrome on iPad and iPhone.

If I want to run Safari I choose that App or one of the others depending on what I want to do.

They all work fine and Safari is the default.

Not a BFD to most. Many of us refuse to use Google Products due to the fact that they are fucking evil.

Google is equally a POS on the iPhone. When using the Gmail app, any time I try to open a hyperlink within a message, it asks me if I want to use Safari or Chrome to open it, and if I want to remember the choice. First, I don't even have Chrome installed on my iPhone and never have. Second, it gives me that dialogue every damned time even though I've told it to remember that I want to use Safari.

Every. Damned. Time.
