The due process clause is "No free man shall be seized or imprisoned, or stripped of his rights or possessions, or outlawed or exiled, or deprived of his standing in any other way, nor will we proceed with force against him, or send others to do so, except by the lawful judgment of his equals or by the law of the land." Its about process when you are going to strip someone of their rights. It doesn't specify what those rights are. It would be as reasonable to interpret it as requiring a federal law against abortion ("stripped of his rights", with life being a right) as it would be to interpret it as outlawing any law against abortion. But reasonably it doesn't really address the issue either way. The right to control ones own body is a fundamental right 1 - The due process clause does not state that "anything we feel is a fundamental right is automatically protected by the constitution" (The 9th amendment also imposes no such idea BTW). 2 - The right to life is a fundamental right. 3 - The fetus is a separate body. Surrounded by a dependent on the mother's body but not actually part of that body.
