I'm not sure anyone would be beating down any doors to play me at chess, Mike. I think they would soon get bored from winning all the time. My skills are really rusty, and were nascent at best when I was playing. When I do play, I like to be right there, staring down my opponent and being, well, tactile.

I do agree that chess is important, and should be taught very early. I think chess develops critical thinking skills, and math skills as well. But not all children are very interested. I know my child wasn't, and so I didn't push it. She loves word and trivia games, and games of conquest, instead. It would be nice if there were better chess programs in schools, though.
