I just saw a commercial on the syndicated seinfeld for Kinko's
where a fellow gives a disk to an employee, and prints out
gobs of color artwork. Anyone seen it? Was it a Zip disk that
was handed over?

>>it seems jazz is going strong. hmtt posted 40 cents a " dilluted "share.
if you recall H&q had a speculative buy on syqt when they released their sparq 1.5gb. it seems h&q downgraded hmtt probably believing the sparq would encroach on the jazz.
from what weve seen on this thread syqt is not doing so well w/ this new product. hmtt has fallen to a pe of 8. just my opinion pe of 8 seems low for a co. actually growing. hmtt proving jazz is well.<<

Kjude -

In the interest of fairness, I must say that I don't believe anything we've seen on this thread indicates that SyQuest is not doing well with SparQ. I believe that the drive is selling well. It is true that SyQuest is not yet producing the SparQ in large quantities, but it seems as if they are selling everything they can make.

However, as you point out, HMTT's earnings report provides pretty good evidence that reports of Jaz's death have been greatly exaggerated.

SparQ and Jaz can both be successful at the same time, because the overall market for removable storage is growing.

Ingram's Best Sellers list for Sept 28 to Oct 26 just released.

Mass Storage
1- Zip 100 Parallel port 100 mb
2- Zip ATAPI 100 mb int
3- Zip 100 SCSI ext
4- Jaz 1gb 3.5 ext

Accessories
1- Zip pc 100 mb

The ATAPI version is number 2. This is the low
cost production drive. Surprised to see it
there, looks like a lot of smaller box makers jumping
on the wagon. These are only available to the
resellers and OEM's in a 5pk box.

This is the first time that I've seen the Zip disk leading
the accessories category
Iomega has the first four of five spots in the mass storage
category.

For those that don't know Ingram is the largest supplier of
computer products in the world accounting for about 12% of IOM's sales.
They are also the largest supplier of Compaq goods
